I recently went to see the film The Last Airbender in theatres and was greatly disappointed by the results. Having been a great fan of the television series I had high hopes for the film and the dang thing fell flat on its face. When I called my friends to warn them against the film I found myself summing it up in one sentence, "The book was better." While that statement isn't exactly true (the only books were the season titles) it summed the movie up nicely. That got me to thinking about other movies based on television series or books. How do they really match up? When someone says "The book was better" is it really just a tired saying or is there any merit to it? I looked around and I couldn't really find anyone else's ideas on it. So I decided to throw my two cents into the ring and started this blog.
I will be attempting to objectively analyze films and their respective books in as an informative and humorous manner as I can. I am influenced heavily by people such as The Nostalgia Critic and Lewis Lovhaug and feel that even though there is a glut of internet reviewers out there there don't seem to be many that review my area of interest. I will try to do somewhat regular updates but we'll see how far that actually goes. As far as the negative sounding blog title and url go... we'll see if I'm really right.
